Sunday 14th January 2001 brought to a successful conclusion, the explosive demolition of Valley Views at Childwall.

In the preceding weeks, Connell Brothers carried out preparatory works which comprised of asbestos removal, soft stripping of interiors, pre-weakening, drilling and test-blasting. Final preparations included the evacuation of 200 homes to a nearby community centre.

At noon, the 14-storey, 42 metre high block was brought down without damage to any adjacent housing, some of which was located only 10 metres away from the structure.
